Tip: Keep Your Black Granite Kitchen Sink Clean

I hate those white spots on my black granite sink. Wash sink with blue dawn or pine cleaner. Rinse Well. Buy mineral oil at the grocery store, it will be in the laxative section, cost approximately $1.49. It is food safe so no worries. Use a paper towel or a wash cloth, put a small amount on, and rub into the sink. It will shine. Do this whenever you feel it necessary. Will make your granite sink look new. Will need to reapply monthly to maintain.

Enjoy this! Would love to hear other granite cleaning tips!

Hi. Is coconut oil helpful? Will the white stains go? In lockdown now, I only have coconut oil

Or baby oil...works great! Just allow it to absorb, overnight.

Mineral oil get down into the granite, and works better than baby oil because it is thicker.

Thank you so much for this tip! I loved the look of my black granite sink when we first got it, but was so disappointed when the bottom didn't maintain it's shine. I will definitely give this a try. I want to love my beautiful sink again. :)

I have also used canola and/or vegetable oil. The spray oils also work! Coconut oil, however, didn't work as well, for me. Maybe because the coconut oil was a solid that I had to melt. As long as it was warm it looked great, but dulled as the sink cooled. :)

cooking oils can go rancid. That is why mineral oil works well and lasts a while

Thanks for this tip. I just bought a new dark brown metallic granite sink a few months ago. It is beautiful, but my son put a hot pan in it one day and now the bottom is a little dull. Can't wait to try this, maybe tonight, since I have the mineral oil. I use mineral oil for so many things, starting 40 years ago when I had my first baby and discovered I was allergic to the fragrance in baby oil. I read the ingredients on the bottle and went straight to the drug store and bought a gallon of mineral oil for the same price as a small bottle of Johnson's baby oil! I also used it when I made raised garden beds and didn't want to use treated wood or toxic oils to coat the wood. I used pine wood and put on a couple of coats of mineral oil, safe to use for vegetable gardening.

Thank you very much for the detailed answer, however I have tried every one of those solutions. If I had my druthers, I would never purchase another black granite sink.
