How do you get cigarette smoke odor out of a closet?
My son is moving into a house where a heavy smoker lived and his closet is awful. It's just bare wood.
I would check the filter and the filter compartment if anything is in there. Maybe a dead rodent, UUUGH! Then I would try to isolate the odor. Then I would remove each supply vent, use a flashlight, and mirror to see if something may have fallen down into the duct. *****

I am having odor issues in my house that I think are coming from the basement which has a mix of must and cat odor.
My son and daughter-in-law purchased their home last November. After about 3 weeks there they noticed a terrible smell. At first it was only when heat came on and after a week or two it was there all the time. Furnace man came out and cleanned the vents and other tune ups, but didn't help, just kept getting worst. Finally the the funace man said to check the ring at the bottom of the comode in the basement. That was it! Eventhou you didn't smell it strong in the basement it sure did on the first floor, but didn't smell like a sewer.
They put a dehumidifier in the basement and changed that ring and all the smell went away.
I had a faint odor coming out of my vents and the heating and air guy put a deodorizer in my air return and now I have no odor!😃
I have my entire hvac system serviced annually. If it needs cleaning, they take care of it. Make sure you change the filter once a month. Easy and cheap and keeps things running properly.
