once cleaned rub down sink, facet and handles, then buff. You shouldn't have any more issues after that.
For heavy lime deposits, soak a clean cloth or paper towels in vinegar and wrap around the stained surface, let it set for a while. Then wipe and rinse the vinegar off.
Try rubbing alcohol!
CLR Bath and Kitchen cleaner is the best I've used to get rid of the heavy lime deposits. It comes in a trigger sprayer and I was surprised at how quickly this worked on some places I'd about given up on. Don't know if we're supposed to mention brands or if these comments are supposed to be for our homemade problem solutions?
I've seen vinegar used to etch outdoor metal flashing to prep it for paint...the professional painters told me it etches the metal so the paint sticks better. So I'm a bit leery of leaving it on metal as described in one of the other comments. Some of these fixtures are pricey and I sure wouldn't want to ruin the surface.
Vinegar works! It will etch iron like galvanized steel gutters for paint.
