I love my new clock! When I found it in the thrift store it wasn't so pretty! But, I could see beyond the ugly and I knew it could be a really nice DIY!
This is how it looked when I purchased it for $1. It has a paper type of surface on the top but it was really secure and I knew I could paint it without it peeling up.
I sprayed it black using Rust Oleum Black Paint/Primer then I painted it white with the same type of spray paint. I also spray painted the hands black.
This was a Silhouette Challenge project so I used my (affiliate link) Silhouette Cameo to create a stencil and cut it out using black vinyl.
I did this once before when I made a coordinates throw pillow. This was a gift for a new homeowner. OMG it came out so nice. Be sure to check it out on the blog if you have time!
This is the stencil all laid out on the surface of the clock. I have to say this was the hardest part.
Then I used some black acrylic paint and a stencil brush to paint in the numbers and letters.
I did some sanding and distressing before the hands went back on.
I had a new clock mechanism in my craft stash so I replaced the old one with this new one but still used the hands from this clock.
It turned out so nice and I LOVE it now.
