A Slightly Broken Sled Gets New Life as a Wall Shelf
When a friend's mom gave me this great old, weathered sled, I had no idea it would become a shelf! But I've been wanting a shelf above my tv for some time and I suddenly realized the sled was the perfect size for that area. After aging some wood to match the wood on the sled, I added a few triangle brackets and a shelf cut to size. I added some heavy-duty hanging wire and drilled long screws into the studs in my wall to mount it. It's just what I wanted for the winter months! The perfect place for my wintertime decor!

I used a steel wool and vinegar mix to age the new wood I added to the sled.
