I wash my dark pants in cold water with regular detergent and a fairly new washing machine (about 1 year old) and the pants come out with white streaks
Mix hydrogen peroxide in with your laundry soap.
I agree with Janet! I use hydrogen peroxide in my wash for all my whites. Bleach tends to make whites dingy and yellow over time.
