I get a lot of requests to transform cabinets and bookshelves into faux apothecary cabinets. I have transformed lots of different items into these cabinets. In fact I have one of those transformations here on HomeTalk already. But this was a 20$ craigslist buffet transformation and by far my favorite!
The door on the right needed to be repaired first. Then it was a matter of taking the hardware off and sanding and staining it a dark walnut color.
The door on the right needed to be repaired first. Then it was a matter of taking the hardware off and sanding and staining it a dark walnut color.
I then cut, sanded and stained lots of the faux drawer fronts. And I got the little handles from Amazon.
I attached them to each drawer front. I used wood glue and finish nails to achieve this.
I turned the doors inside out and attached stained paint sticks in the centers to attach the faux drawer fronts to.
I painted some black across the bottom and on the sides and added some metal details including handles and large nailheads.
In the sun you can see how gorgeous the details are.
This was one of my favorite pieces to do.
