A Home Full of Rescues- Furniture and Decor

I have posted our decor a few times on Hometalk, the previous being http://www.hometalk.com/diy/home-tours/updated-mobile-home-post-11538927
But, as a junker with a home based job of selling vintage and rescued furniture our decor is always changing. Here are a few new finds and how they have nestled their way into our home and hearts.
Our living room was just repainted, it was a struggle to let go of the previous warm Terra cotta and beige, but the new Marshmallow and Anew Grey give me a soft comforting feeling. Our anchor piece in this room is a curbside rescue buffet. (and a sweet Golden Retriever)
As a collector first and seller second pieces like the radio cabinet land in our home and I stare at them wondering do I want to keep you? A great find at $20 that cabinet needed more work than anyone should have to put into a piece! I still don't know what the previous owner did to it or the bizarre finish it used to have.
We lack an actual entry way which is a bit of a challenge. How to make a main entrance into a functional area that isn't too cluttered. My husband made the long shelf for coats and the bench, industrial shoe cubby and that wood crate that holds my bottle collection are all curbside finds.
Our room was de-cluttered by custom track doors, we just finished this project and I love it. It adds a beautiful clean accent without loosing any function of the bookcase. This project can be seen at http://www.hometalk.com/diy/decorate/walls/custom-track-doors-26511241
A barn rescue washstand from a friend was revamped into a coffee bar and a cute little accent sewing cabinet drawer was attached for a coffee cup holder.
Our kitchen dining is up next, I need to find the right color to blend with the transition area where the gray and white meet with this room. I would love new cabinet doors and new flooring but that is not yet in the budget. I am also debating tiles in this area along the back splash.
One day this beauty (ok so she was a hot mess) showed up on a buy sell page on Facebook. She had old paint, and sludge of paint mixed with paint remover that had congealed and solidified all over her....and she stunk! But at $90 we felt we could tackle her! Now she is a crowned jewel in my opinion, finished in Annie Sloan French Linen and Country Grey accents. The cute little table next to her was another toss out that I snapped up quickly from the trash.
Our kitchen is sort of one big room with the dining area, a functioning fireplace is directly across from the coffee station so although we live in a mobile home, these two amenities should keep us cozy. I love the juxtaposition of crisp white and rusty metals.
This gorgeous piece was from the same people that had Miss Hot Mess above. He didn't have any issues but one.....he too stunk to high heaven! What to do with stinky old furniture? I have a 3 step process ( perhaps I should do a post in detail) but quickly 1. Pull (remove as much odor as possible with baking soda, sun, newspaper etc) 2. Clean- good cleaning with a good soap (not too wet) or a vinegar wash (more sun bleaching) 3. Seal. Still have odor? Seal with poly acrylic or urethane...everywhere, inside and out. The worse the smell the more important you get every surface. If it still stinks or you are on the floor from the first sniff - run away fast! Forget about it!
This is one of two new pieces, a turn of the century pie safe. I wish his patina was more original, at some point someone did some kind of a stain wash on it. I am leaving as it is because I don't want to mess with this big guy! By the way he and a super cool dresser coming up were both bought at a thrift store.
Our table and chairs were all curbside rescues. The parquet table needed a lot of sanding, a tish of glue and a new coat of stain to match that lovely pew in the back. A friend gave us pew ends and a simple constructed pew with plain flat ends, my husband carved them to fit and now she is stunning!
Into our bedroom, we start with a super cool bed frame that was lying about in someones yard so we asked if we could buy it.....duh, who wouldn't! The blue piece is a secretary my dad made back in the early 80's I think.
Oh....here is this. Breathtaking. This dresser was with the pie safe at the thrift store...just like that! We didn't do a thing to her! ok between you and me I say it's a he, but my husband says"she has boobs" so it's a her. Sorry, was that TMI?
Formerly an ugly brown and broken chifferobe, This is one of my all time favorites! A $20 score at a garage sale, I think she is stunning. Her transformation can be seen at http://www.hometalk.com/diy/paint/furniture/chifforobe-refinished-18414063
