Wasted space above kitchen cabinets
-
Nancy Thrift on Dec 14, 2013when we had our kitchen redone, we had another set of cabinets added to the top for extra storage, and then they boxed in the rest flush with the top. those top cabinets work great for that stuff you don't use so much.Helpful Reply

AmericanWoman on Dec 15, 2013It will always be wasted space for me as well. I'm 5'1" and would like the next kitchen to have no upper cabinets.Helpful Reply

Barbara Bean on Dec 15, 2013Make towels to fit ,when they get dusty and dirty ,wash and replace. Less cleaning if the dust goes on the towels. Their is dust in the air it has to go some place.Helpful Reply

Carolyn Faye Blizzard Lanier on Dec 15, 2013If you want to use it at sometime, just leave it open and put pretty things up there, if you will never use it at all just have someone close it in with some kind of boards, and if your cabinets are painted just paint the boards after you have put them up, you could paint them the same color as the cabinets or a color that will match.Helpful Reply

Jeanette S on Dec 15, 2013I have cabinets to the ceiling and they are junk collectors...but better junk instead of dust. I would look to construct some lightweight storage boxes made to size with covers (hinged, flat cover would work). Use Pallet wood if you can find it and either distress or paint...an accent color or a variety of colors. You could even paint a companion color much like that which is used above and below a chair rail. Small handles could be attached to match the pulls on your cabinets for easy removal. In a beige, cream or whitish kitchen, navy would be adorable with rope handles! Look for some stoneware jars with lids to sit in between these boxes. (Even the French Country motif would be adorable...you can find it if you search on line...la white wash with a red or either blue stripe.)Helpful Reply
