I inherited an antique Victorian sofa. The sentimental value of it was priceless, so even though I downsized from a 9 room house to a two room in-law suite, I was determined to keep my sofa! It did NOT match my decor at all, so I decided to try my hand at upholstery. I found exactly the fabric I wanted at Wallmart at a thrifty $3.97 per yard, so for under $50, I was able to cover my beloved sofa.........UNTIL I began to shop for trim! The by yard cost for even the narrowest trim was totally out of my budget, I needed about 15 yards, it was going to cost about $60 for trim! Then inspiration hit. While at Lowe's buying the chalk paint to refinish the exposed wood on my sofa, I checked out the rope section, low and behold, they had lovely, shiny white nautical rope, 50 feet for under $10! I simply used my glue gun to attach the rope to cover the staples. I am thrilled with the results!
