Add Some Romance to the Mundane...Flower Pens!

I don't need a bouquet of roses that cost a fortune and will be gone in two weeks! I need a little reminder that I'm loved and thought of everyday (not just Valentine's day). Like when I'm paying bills, making out the grocery list, adding yet another thing to do to that calendar. So why not make those roses silk this year, and with just a few more supplies transform them into useful decoration we can use in our lives everyday?
All you need are silk roses, ink pens, floral tape, and a hot glue gun!
Start by removing the plastic plug from the bottom of the pen. You may need to use the point of a knife to pop it out of there! You can throw that plug away. Set the normal pen cap to the side to put back on later.
Now wrap the pen in floral tape. I like to leave just a smidge of overhand to fold over. It helps the floral tape not slide up and down the tube during the assembly later as well as when used. I wrap the entire casing. Press really well all over, but especially where your tape ends!
Pull your flowers off the bunch. Take note of the plastic piece that held them on. This is going to be pushed down into the hole (where we removed the bottom plug) and you really do want it to be about a quarter inch long. I didn't use the one on the right b/c I didn't think it was long enough to really get a good hold. In that past I've had to trim them down because they were too long. Depends on your flowers!
Now put hot glue both down in the hole of the pen,
And on the flower "stem". Push the stem into the hole.
Any extra glue will push out and that's good...just more glued surface. You'll have to hold it for a bit until the glue starts to set.
Replace the cap and you're done! They are so pretty filling a cup or on their own. And don't stop with roses! There are such pretty and fun silk flowers out there, and little girls especially love them coordinated with colored inks!
I made some for a craft show that we're glittered and paired with a matching notebook. They sold like hot cakes! I think roses like this would be beautiful for a wedding centerpiece and the guests could take home a pen as a favor. Hope you are inspired! As always, you're more than welcome over at TreasuredChaos.com!

I made these for a friends sons wedding to put in welcome bags for out of towners and they were a big hit! Simple and fun to make but gives a punch to a boring pen!
