My kitchen is very 60's but extremely well laid out. I'd like to change hinges, handles and paint the cupboards to give it an inexpensive update!!! Is there a paint I can use over sealed wood without having to strip and sand everything down? Thanks all.

Lightly sand to remove any shine. Prime with KILZ, BIN, or Zinsser primer. Then paint with your color, seal with at least three coats of a water based polyurethane.

clean and prime as above - then use Benjamin Moore's Advance Pearl or Semigloss (two coats) to get a gorgeous finish. It's a hybrid paint and is easy to work with.

Your cabinets are unique, maybe try changing hardware and other trim in the kitchen before painting over them, I know how hard it is to strip paint so I am one that hates to paint wood

chalk paint covers everything, no priming or stripping, just paint. Lowes carries their own brand and it is cheaper than most

We cleaned ours with rubbing alcohol and lightly sanded. Then we painted them. Be sure to use a protective coat to finish. I used a semi-gloss. Easy cleanup.

I would ask at a reputable paint store they are usually very knowledgeable about all paints and stains.
