DIY Buffet Service Station

I love having friends over for, well, just about any occasion. I love creating the menu, the decor - everything. I do find one thing I always need more of when I have a party is table space. Food, drinks, plates, cups, utensils - it takes up valuable food space on y serving table. I whipped up this DIY service station to help with that problem and I think it looks pretty cute too!

When I originally built this is was for the 4th of July, but with a few adjustment in decor, it suit any occasion...like that big football game coming! It's so simple to make, it only took me about 1 hour!

Here's the 4th of July set up. The station itself is 2 pieces, a bottom tray and a top. You will need a few boards: 1x8, 1x6, ans 2-1 x 3 to make this project. Plus you will need 1.5" wood screws.

Additionally, you might want wood stain or paint and sandpaper

First I created the stand. The trickiest part of the stand are the holes for your buckets or pots or jars to go in. I used a jigsaw to cut mine (they are not perfect, but they work).

Then I attached 2 "legs" to the top - this creates the stand.

I created my tray with 2- 1x6" as the base and 1x3" on the sides. They were screwed together with wood screws.

Once the 2 separate pieces were put together, I stained my serving station...IN hindsight, I would stain my boards first and then cut and assemble. This was one of my first all-by-myself wood projects.

The measurements I used for my exact crate and stand can be found on my blog. I used the measurement purposefully so that I could stack the stand inside the crate for easy storage as well.

To finish off the station, you can use mason jars, terra cotta pots or whatever you like, just make sure they fit securely in your holes. For the football them I grabbed some metal buckets
