$5 DIY WINDOW VALANCE

1 Material
Window treatments can be very expensive. So I made my own DIY window valance with some simple tools, two products, basic skills, and less than $5! Those two products can be purchased at your local dollar store: foam board and coffee filters!
Can you believe you can make your own window valance with those two things? It make a lightweight, gorgeous DIY window treatment so I hope you enjoy this tutorial.

Above are the supplies you'll need! And the process for making DIY window valance is super easy and simple to follow. We just have 4 steps:
Step 1: Measure your window width (and depth) so you know the length of your DIY window valance.. My window valance needed to be 52" wide and 2.5" deep.

Step 2: Measure and cut your foam board, you can use a scissors but the easiest way to cut the foam board is with an exacto knife.
Step 3: If you needed to use two pieces of foam board to cover your entire window. Tape the two pieces of foam board together.
Step 4: Fold coffee filter in half and then another half to create a triangle. Hot glue coffee filter to your foam board, continue gluing the coffee filters until the entire board is covered.
Attach your foam board to the curtain rod using command strips
It's that easy! Even someone who does not consider himself creative could make this in an hour. This DIY window valance is great for your kids' room as it has a cute and magical vibe to it!
