I enjoy creating a space for family and friends to gather and feel comfortable. I love to collect items that inspire the beauty and warmth of the area we live in. Our development is situated high above the Mississippi River and we often hear the train's whistles deep in the valley as they travel in the night. We are also nestled in the woods and often see deer traipsing through our yard or the farmer's field behind us - wildlife in all forms is abundant. I also love to collect items that weave the past with the present and tell a story.
I use the tops of my cabinets in the kitchen to decorate for the seasons. We love to cook. It's fun to collect and display cooking implements that have been used throughout the years. These elements remain in all my seasonal displays.
The living room is the favorite gathering place. I tuck my treasures in nooks and crannies around the living room.
I drew this scene for our grandkids. It helps them imagine what Bethlehem might have been like when Jesus was born as we tell the story of Jesus' birth. It is the focus of the living room because Jesus is the true gift of Christmas.
These are now treasured collectibles - Thomas Kinkade's Hawthorne Village and Christmas Train. We love to turn it on at night and enjoy it's quaint beauty.
This nook was perfect for a porcelain doll. It was given to me by my mother many years ago along with a poem she wrote for me called The Christmas Doll.
I used an old butter turn to make this simple arrangement. The basket was given to me by our daughter several Christmases ago - another treasured gift.
The kitchen is another favorite room in our home. The table is a great place to display treasures. The cake dish in the center of the table is a family heirloom.
Milk glass found in an antique store adds a nice touch to this display. The box that it is displayed in is actually a bottle carrier painted and turned on it's side.

I love it all, but I'm sure @Miriam knew that the mantel with Bethlehem drawing and nativity would be my favorite. Thank you for tagging me. ♥ @Nancy, I'm so glad you shared this. It's all so charming, but I love your mantel and drawing of Bethlehem. What a wonderful idea.

Thank you Miriam and Becky. Becky I'm so glad you like the drawing and I'm glad you have Jesus in your heart. It can be a struggle to keep our eyes focused on Jesus at Christmas. This helps me stay focused. The Light of the World has come bringing hope for all! Jesus is the gift, given for all.
