Taking a vote: what's the best paint for cupboards and table/chairs?

I'm going to go with spray paint primer, then spray paint a dark brown over the edges, then Vaseline over the areas I want to distress, then cream spray paint over the top, then distress! Wish me luck!;) Thanks for the great advice! (Table/chairs)

I love using Chalkpaint- it requires the least amount of prep, and it comes out beautiful!!!

Chalk paint..but do not seal with wax if its in the kitchen or bathroom. Wax melts in heat and humidity..use poly acrylic, two or three coats. It comes in matte if you want that antique, distressed look that chalk paint gives you..and the poly acrylic will not yellow, other sealers do.

Chalk paint is great to work with...and if you make your own you can have what ever color you want and save huge money.

I love it! I'm leery of making my own, but it's exciting too! I really appreciate your advice!

I use Paint Couture. It is 100% Acrliyc, self leveling and goes on like a dream.

I do not recommend any paint with chalk in it because the chalk tends to draw out any oil, Tannin bleed, wax, that is in the wood and sometimes can't be cleaned off.

Chalk paints are too absorbent and not as durable. They also have a texture and need to be sanded for a smooth finish. Never, never, nevwax anything in a kitchen or bathroom.
