Since there are so many opinions what kind of jewelry do you need to clean?

    • William William on Feb 01, 2017

Yeah I know! Everybody has their own opinion and that's fine. I know what works for me! As long the comments are not inappropriate. All anyone needs to do is try the toothpaste once and they'll be amazed.

I sell a lot of gold, silver, and gemstone jewelry on Ebay. I use white toothpaste (not gel) and a damp tooth brush. Lightly brush, the toothpaste will foam, and brush for a few minutes. Rinse and dry. Also works on copper and brass.

William, I have found lots of old, corroded pennies...what can I do to shine them up? Do you have a secret concoction?

  • William William on Feb 01, 2017

Rogers & Hollands | Ashcroft & Oak.....Do not use chlorine or rubbing alcohol on jewelry. Chlorine will create pits in karat gold and rubbing alcohol will leave an unwanted oil residue.

Hydrogen peroxide is also good, especially if you've got "stuff" under clear stones. The bubbling will dislodge the dust from every nook and cranny. Be sure not to use abrasives(like toothpaste) on soft items like pearls and opals.
