I use lighter fluid too. The tiny nozzle is perect for targeted application and I use a "used" gift card for scraping the gummy paper off. In some cases a second squirt of lighter fluid to remove residual adhesive haze and a wipe with a kleenex.

Spray on cooking oil. I like spray on olive oil best. Let it set for awhile and then scrub with a scrubby and rinse with hot water. If it doesn't all come off, repeat until it does.

Hey, you gals are all good! I've used most of these and they do work. Using WD40 (with the straw in the nozzle) on anything glass or ceramic, just spray it on the sticker and let it sit overnight or throughout the day and you can peel the sticker off all in one piece with ease. If there is any residue, use GoGone and a paper towel.

For me, the most convenient has been getting as much paper off as I can by soaking it in hot, soapy water. Then I smear peanut butter (the oilier the better), let it sit awhile. Then I rub the peanut butter on it one more time with just my finger and then run under hot water. The remaining paper & all the glue come right off. Hope all the suggestions help!!!!

  • Jackie Jackie on Feb 03, 2017

All of these will work, but the hair dryer is the fastest by far, and leaves no oily residue.

Here's something that is less toxic than goo-gone and lighter fluid. Mix equal parts of coconut oil and baking soda. Apply to label, let sit for 5-10 minutes and rub off.

This has worked for me when other methods haven't.

Hair Dryer turned on High. Scrape the sicker with your finger nail to get it started. When it starts to stick again turn the heat on again. Be patient and it will come off clean! Gail Memphis, Tennessee

I use baby oil on a cotton ball. Put enough on to let it absorb into the paper. If it's really tough, wait a couple of minutes and rub the sticker with the baby oil soaked cotton ball. Clean as much as you can. Then get a clean cotton ball and use rubbing alcohol. This usually takes the whole sticker off.

  • Marlena Marlena on Feb 04, 2017

Baby oil or you can actually use your cooking oil and rub until it rolls off then wash glass to get the oil off! I have done this for years with glass and it never fails.

I have tried the standard, basic, items sold for the purpose of removing labels and their glue. They are rather labor intensive sometimes. One day I was cleaning up paint brushes with paint thinner and just swiped a glass jar that had to have label removed. I had already peeled the outer part of label off but glued white film remained. Within a few seconds I took a rag and wiped the jar....it came out sparkling and free of any glue. Now that is all I use on glass. A little goes a long way.

Googone. Best ever! Most stores carry it. or soak over night in soapy water. Also if you air brush, use Air Brush restorer. Works on almost everything, removing gummy labels to paint to spots on clothes. It is wonerful. I ordered mine from Bics.

    • AJ AJ on Feb 12, 2017

Absolutely a hair dryer for melting and Goo Gone or rubbing alcohol to remove residue! Turned on high, the heat blast fanned back and forth over labels effectively melts the tough adhesives between labels and plastic/glass containers so you can pull up a corner and simply peel away, then finish off residue with the Goo Gone or alcohol. Hair dryer also works to loosen shipping labels from cardboard boxes or plastic shipping bags if you intend to reuse them with no fear of ID theft.

    Use coconut oil!

Try to peel off any of the sticker that might be loose. Submerge in hot water for a while, then rub or peel off any of the label you can. Rubb the sticky residue with coconut oil will do the trick! This works for me every time, and I like the fact that I don't use any creepy chemicals.

They did this on My Hacked Life and used 3 methods... peanut butter, hair dryer and I think the last was just oil. The fastest way was with a hair dryer and it was the cleanest too. I was shocked, I never knew a hair dryer could work. The worst was peanut butter lol. So stick w/the dryer ;)
