Should shiplap walls be flat/matte paint? Or eggshell finish?

I think that is a matter of taste,not what everyone else thinks.

Whichever matches your decor better! I love matte finish, but that's my preference. Do you have pictures of the room?

  rooms where shiplap will be installed: 1 wall in lvg. room; 1 wall in master bedroom; vanity wall in both bathrooms - color will be Swiss Coffee as is all trim, doors and cabinets throughout house. Sheetrock walls throughout will be Comfort Gray - some at 100%, some at 50% saturation (Sherwin Williams)

  Egg shell is nice. Here is my ship lap over the fire place..the mantel has not yet been put up. I ended up painting the ship lap a off white matte. It looks really well. The ceiling light is gone now..canned lights will be installed.
  What ever you do with your ship lap you will love it. WE put our tv over the fire place, I hated covering any of the ship lap up.
  
  My kitchen wall will be ship lap, as well as under the chair rail in the dining room.
