Tip: Get Stains Out With Just One Product!

what about getting pet urine out of carpet, I've tried everything from baking soda to pet supplies at the pet stores, and have use a carpet shampooer. He's a 6 year old dachshund, and rarely does this, but for some reason, just ever once in a while he'll go and its always in the same spot

Soak the spot with white vinegar , I mean really soak it so it goes thru to the pad under the carpet , let set a few minutes then soak up with white paper towels or use your carpet cleaner to pull up the liquid.

I use white vinegar and dawn all the time but never thought of using it on stains. Thank you so much for sharing. Now I will have a bottle in the kitchen and the laundry room too.

I heard about using Dawn from a friend and tried it on a grease stain on a t-shirt and it came out. Now keeping it in laundry room for stain remover!

I learned this trick from a lady that use to own a dry cleaners. I put peroxide and Dawn on my husbands dress shirts that are stained with perspiration. I have a small nail scrub brush. I work it into the stain. Let them soak for a while then launder. Some of them were pretty bad is why I tried this. I let them air dry to see how well it did. It did take one, or two times on some of the shirts, but it worked. Now I do it regularly and it works the first time I treat the stain, launder and dry. It has given a new life to his dress shirts.

I haven't used this on perspiration stains but I will definitely try this!

Really wish they sold Dawn in Australia. They did for 5 minutes and then took it off the market. Such a fabulous product!

Vinegar is brilliant for stains particularly for pet urine as it neutralises the scent so they won't re-offend. If you were unable to fully get the stain out, the pet recognises his scent and wees in the same spot. Dawn dish soap sounds really promising for stain removal. Does anyone has a British equivalent that they can recommend please? :-)

As to the doggie urine on Berber carpet--- if you catch it right away, try the following; blot up immediately. And then cover the entire pee area with salt. Lots of salt. Let it sit for 24 hours, and vacuum. Works every time. If the Lee is all ready soaked in? An old pee mistake by a guilty pup? Go the vinegar route.

Peroxide....the regular 3% medical antiseptic.....is the best for blood. No need to rinse and rinse to get rid of soap. I have used peroxide for years to get blood out of carpet, clothes, towels, underwear, sheets, you name it! It has saved me a lot of money!

One more: I just used Dawn dish soap to remove several paint spots on hubby's new jeans.

I have made it my lifes' mission to collect cleaning tips and concoctions. Three other friends and I created a cleaning team when we were stationed in Germany and cleaned military quarters. Back then, we didn't have the internet (no Hometalk or Pinterest, my 2 fav sites) ugh! We never failed an inspection but sure could have used some of the cleaning tips I have stumbled across.

I am basically lazy, but also OCD so my house MUST be clean. That means dealing with stains, spills, messes right away before they become a bigger and more time-consuming problem.

I discovered years ago that Dawn is the best for my husband's ring-around-the-collar stains and underarms stains also. If you want to see how toxic it is, try getting it on your hands and not quickly washing it off! It burns! Best stain remover for all stains.

Hi Connie S - I meant it burns your hands if you fail to wash it off. Very caustic product, which is what makes it so good at removing stains. I am sure you rinse it off your animals very well, so there should be no problem.
