Search the Yellow pages or Google "Electrostatic Painting". It will give you a factory quality paint job for about $200.00 - $ 300.00.
  • I would like to add that if you are updating your kitchen, you should really think about updating your refrigerator. Today's models are so much more efficient than ones of yesteryear. Plus if you shop at many stores and watch for closeouts or scratch and dent models you can really get a good deal. I once bought a Samsung stainless steel frig at Lowe's for $400 reg $1200 because it was year end, and it had a dent on the side. I do not shop scratch and dent stores because I find there deals are no better than the stores. Lowe's and Home Depot close out year end and right now thru about Feb there will be a lot of sales. I just had to add this option

@The Garden Frog with C Renee I too am concerned w/the environmental impact of old appliances, however I am beginning to wonder if we are looking at the impact from all angles. The newer models do use less day-to-day energy, however many of them do not seem to last as long as the old. Then they go to the landfills and we have that environmental impact. This has happened to me with my new range (how I miss that old one!!), washing machine (I updated but didn't get rid of the old one, so now it is back in place) And I bought each of my daughter's a small deep-freezer when they moved out, neither has lasted and I bought mine used (third=hand) in 1980. It has been shifted and moved far more than the new ones and still going. Thanks for letting me get my opinion out . . . I still am not sure of what the right choice are.

You can paint it with regular latex paint. First you need to sand it to loose the gloss finish, to do this use a very fine sandpaper, a 600 and up wet or dry works best, it needs to be very fine to avoid scratches. Then apply two or three coats of paint with a little roller, this needs to be done with a smooth finish type of roller. Allow paint to dry between coats, finally when the paint is completely dry, sand with a 1000 and up sandpaper to eliminate possible roller marks, then you could polish it it with a non abrasive compound to make it look glossy.

You can find appliance paint in spray cans at most hardware stores. This paint is formulated just for this, so it won't flake or peel off and if you decide to paint your stove, it's heat resistant. The only problem we had was the gaskets. They did not take well to any paint and flaked over time. To replace the ones on our french door refrigerator was just too expensive to do though, but if you have a less expensive refrigerator it is well worth just replacing them as over time they have issues anyway.

You could cover it with stainless steel contact paper you can get from amazon I think. I saw Tanya use it on hgtv once for just such a project.

I did mine with white gloss spray paint and it looks brand new! The overspray gets everywhere so block off the area or move it outside!
