As long as the topic is shoe boxes for storage purposes....I covered several with plaid cotton (material) for use on shelves in the computer room. Easy to cut, you just follow along the lines of the plaid, measure to the box and lid, apply glue to the box surface, if I recall correctly, it was just Elmer's, ....I was very proud of the results. In addition, I glued a loop of grosgrain ribbon on one end making it easier to pull off the shelf. I like keeping the shoes with the original box, the shoes stay in better condition. Seems tennis shoes (sports) empty boxes best for this because they're worn every day almost. I will now have to start buying my salad greens in the clear boxes, good idea, but I still like the original box, some of them are quite nice.
