Because to the size of the bathroom I would opt to keep the ceiling white not a color. I would also keep it in light in scale and pop the color with your towels instead. Many taupes or pale grey would look well, however again those particular colors play very different in ones home verses the store. I would get some paint samples and do a test to make sure the grays do not look green and the taupes do not look like to grey or pink. Also keep in mine paint colors are truly personal taste and this is just my suggestion having made several paint mistakes before.
Your neutral bathroom is a perfect canvas! If you feel like painting, I wouldn't do a color on the ceiling. That may drag the height of the room down. It's already anchored with the dark flooring. I would opt for some richly colored towels and a bolder larger piece of wall art across from the toilet. You're probably not spending huge blocks of time in there but I do understand that beginning and ending each day help you refresh and recharge. Consider some quality spa items like a really nice scented candle or diffuser and a basket of beautiful plush towels.
I sure would not use any more greys, browns or dull heavy colors. Whites with a pale buttery yellow accent wall. Keep the room as light and airy as possible.
I would go with a nuetral gray/greige color on the walls. I agree, I would keep the ceiling white to make it feel higher. To keep it more cozy looking I would opt for a big "piece" above the toilet - like a bigger picture - to keep it simple looking. I think too much stuff will make the room appear smaller. You could also get new knobs if you want to change the look of the room. Have fun!
I love the idea!! Go light to make the room feel bigger, I love light blues and neutrals for bathrooms. Have fun with it. Share when you do!
Another vote for barely-tinted white and color splashing with art and towels.
I'd paint your bathroom walls Agreeable Grey (sherwin williams paint color) which is a very, very light gray and your ceiling white. I'd then cozy up your space with dark purple and yellow accents. The towels could be dark purple/plum and if you have room for a small picture or flower arrangement, be sure it has the grey, plum, yellows in it.
You can't change the size of the bathroom and paint colors really aren't going to make that much of a difference so I'd just do it up really classy. That is what people will notice!
Or you could paint the ceiling half the strength of the walls. Check out Sherwin Williams water colors. Very neutral and clean. Keep the shelving glass to let the eye look through it. You could add a throw rug or bath mat the color of the walls. And black towels would add a classy look.
Olga, I'll address your question from the other post here.
After looking at the pictures of your bathroom I think painting stripes may give you some visual height but it will also pull that wall to catch your eye and may bring it forward. I would keep the walls a few shades lighter grey than the tile and do a white ceiling. Keeping small rooms monochromatic and simplistic will help avoid a closed in feeling. I agree with using accessories to add interest to your room. There's so many colors that match grey. Get a lot of paint chips in shades that look appealing to you. When you bring them home it will be easy to narrow it down. Take the ones you like and tape them to different walls so they don't compete against each other. Give yourself a few days to looks at the colors before you decide. Grey comes in in shades with. So many undertones. Once you choose your color you can pick accessories that blend with the undertone colors. Have fun and you'll be happy with your choices and proud of the outcome.
Stay away from the greys, go with pale yellow to lighten it up. Think of wall mirrors, they'll make it seem bigger, just don't put in front of the toilet down low, You don't want to see yourself in the sitting position. Lighten up the floor color if you can somehow, the dark shrinks the height of the room. Good Luck.
Paper* the Full wall. Mirror willreflect scene.g Fine a wall scene to give it depth. so that you are looking farther away If the idea of a heavy wall covering is not yur cup of world, you coul free paint a Window into thatwall and your imagination would take you out side.
Ypur towels hanging on each side of window, size you pic. woul add a curtain effect and this could be changed when you are tired of the scene, Yes ligt colors keep it open
I too have a small bath--above this toilet, I added 3 shelves-from like Home Depot-w 24" x d 8". Then used baskets for extra storage. If there is wall space--add some wall hooks.
Target has nice beveled edge "door" mirrors that perhaps you can hang two side by side on the wall with the toilet. Command strips are your best friend, they stick to mirrors too. They have a "bathroom strength" version that I use. Get the whitest brightest light bulbs you can get for lighting. When we painted my little bathroom a light gray I painted the ceiling the same color. I swear it looks bigger, like it hides the ceiling from your mind. I got a fun adhesive vinyl applique and put it on my shower door. Again, your eye is reading the saying and not paying attention to how little the space is. Then, on the back of the door, use Command hooks all up and down to put towels and maybe a small shallow wire basket or two. I bet you can do that beside the toilet too. Small can still hold stuff. Under the medicine cabinet, you can add a shelf to hold cosmetics or cute holders for cotton balls, q-tips, etc. You have a lot to work with. Have fun with it!
Hi Olga- I am a decorator. I see some have recommended going with stripes and some all the same color. In a small bath with a low ceiling either way is correct. It depends on what you would want. I too have a very small bath with a 7 ft ceiling. My ceiling is all lighting however so no paint on the ceiling. I chose a very light sea blue with just a hint of green for the walls. I live in Florida so I was going for a beach effect. When decorating always ask yourself what effect do you want to achive. In any case in a small bath you can go with any light, very light color you want or go white, or make the ceiling white and the walls a very light color. I would not go with a bright color on one wall. If you are looking for a pop of color, try getting a tall painting to go over the toilet or another appropriate spot. Then using color in the towels taken from the colors in the painting. You can also make your assortment of items need for the bath in the same "pop" of color.
This is the corner, the color is a light gray. I scraped off two layers of 40 year old wallpaper that was avacado green and gold stripes. But with the wall paper and a white ceiling, it was not cohesive. Now it appears seamless. I'll be adding a 2 inch border to the mirror with decorative blocks for the corners. Eliminates the need to mitered corners. Been a blast adding special touches here and there. Hope you like the idea, I really think it made all the difference to us!
