Jewelry Holder With Supplies From the Hardware Store

My sister asked he to make her a jewelry holder for Christmas. In my mind, I remembered that she needed a place to hold her studs and dangle earrings, but I sort of forgot that she also needed a place for her necklaces. This definitely won't work for that, so although I finished this project, I'm calling it a major flop.
I started with some copper flex tubing, copper wire, and a wooden tray from the thrift store.
I used a pipe cutter to cut down the pipes, 4 int a set of decreasing lengths. (For more specific measurements, head over to the link at the bottom of the post.)
I made the square base first, and then thread 6 pipes to two edges, and then 6 more pieces to make the other 2 edges. Then, I used 4 pipes to make the second and third rungs.
I spray painted the tray, and then used Mod Podge to add some pretty paper to the inside of it.
I added a toy giraffe so it could also hold rings and called it finished. Does it hold earrings? Sure! It is a cage for giraffes? Yes, that too. I was a fun project, even if it wasn't a complete success. The positive from it all is that I will definitely use copper tubing to make himmeli type figures in the future!

But you could've used it for necklaces by just hanging them in a slip knot...? Right...?

What was that old toy building set we used to have as kids-the one with the wooden dowels and wooden disks with holes in them? Probably available in plastic now (ugh! wood was better.) This copper tubing is much more attractive, definitely, but if the was some way to combine the two, using E6000 for permanence, seems like you could get more acute, sturdier angles.... Just thinking through my fingers here as I type. This is a very interesting piece!
