If you have a lonely, blank corner like this one... consider adding some flair to it with your kiddo's artwork!
Your artwork wall doesn't have to cost a fortune, use these creative (inexpensive) tricks to get the look you want for less!
Find frames at you local thrift stores, garage sales or flea markets. Spray paint them in one cohesive color. Or if you have bold style... use multiple colors on your frames.

Instead of buying secondhand, you can also stock pile them from Ikea! Ikea has a large variety of larger wall frames at affordable prices. If you do buy them from Ikea, here's my trick to having a "mat" for our irregular sized artwork.

Ikea frames come with a gray sheet in them that says what size they are. Take that piece of paper out and flip it over. Attach your kiddo's artwork to the backside of the Ikea paper (which is white). Attach the artwork with tape so that the artwork sticks to the white side of the paper. Place back in the frame. From farther away, it looks like you have a mat around your irregular sized artwork, but really you just mounted your artwork on the white paper. I've used this trick a lot and it works every single time!
If you need a mat and don't want to go with the paper option, you can buy and cut your own frame mats to save money. Or, if you want to pay just a bit more... go to your local craft store and have them cut your mats for you.

Use a variety of frame sizes to give your wall or space a more casual feel. Also, if you can... let your wall grow as your artwork comes home.

I know my kiddo feels special when a piece of his artwork makes to the wall and the wall grows. Instead of filling the wall immediately, let it grow with your artwork collection. Plus, this will allow you to have more frames on hand for different sizes of artwork.
If you are looking for other ways to display artwork, hop over to my blog to see more. I rounded up a few ideas with clipboards and a wood display that have a more casual vibe. I even think a mix-and-match gallery wall would be fun.
