Rustic Farmhouse Wall Art

We had an old wood piece that looked a little bit like a pallet and I got some rusty letters from Custom Cut Decor. When I put them together it was the perfect wall decor for our guest room.
Here is what the wood piece looked like before I started. We used the jigsaw to cut the cross boards on the back to the size we needed.
It was very rough and splinter filled so I gave it a good sanding with the palm sander.
I wanted the look of paint that was worn after years of being outside. I used 4 colors. White, gray, a dark espresso and then a bit of teal.

I used a dry brush technique and started light and added as needed.

The corrugated tin letters are from Custom Cut Decor and you can order different sizes with different degrees of rust and you can choose if you would like holes at the top or hangers. My choices were 8 inch letters, with partial rust and holes at the top to attach them to the board. These letters were provided to me in exchange for my blog post.

I laid them out centered on the board and used screws to attach them.
I was done! Then all I had to do was add it to the guest room. There is a shelf above the bed that it rests on and it really adds to the room.
I have been working hard on this room. I put a patina finish on the lamps and I used a paint a pillow stencil kit for the pillow. Both were such fun projects and with every project this room gets a little closer to being done.
