Who encourages you to DIY?

I have always been a DIYer. I enjoy the process, like to solve problems myself and I like to do it all in the least expensive manner that I can. My husband is always there with his tools and a nudge when I think I may have bitten off more than I can chew! icon

Your so lucky, I totally get you. I see a problem that we can fix and want to attack it as soon as possible and as inexpensive as possible which means doing it ourselves, we used to be that way, why I remember our first house and laying down vinyl tiles while 7 months pregnant and with 2 other young children. He was their as well, helping by redoing powder room. Now, forget it he won't do anything that we can handle especially since we have men now not babies. That's 4 men that can do job quickly. That can learn so that they can tackle jobs.

    • I totally get it! We tackled two houses, renovated from top to bottom, white the kids were teeny. It is awesome that you are passing your DIY skills on to the next generation! We try to do the same!

$$$ are my motivation do diy- certain things do get farmed out the pro's- electric and plumbing mostly- as this fixer has a few quirks. half the house has updated wiring and the other half doesn't. yes i can paint, change out hardware and sew/ clean just about anything. i can do basic carpentry- made a few small animal cages, put a salvaged counter top on salvaged legs- it's now a table in my breeze way. love spring clean up day when bulky items are out on the curb free for taking.

    • You sound like a very talented DIYer! It really does make a huge difference when you can do it yourself. PS...we love those spring clean up days, too. Lots of treasure out there...
