Funky Wardrobe UpCycle

Bye-Bye boring {fake} Oak Wardrobe! Hello funky~fresh, rustic beauty! My client wanted to use this piece in her nursery but wanted it to be funky and vivid! She shared fabric swatches from her rustic nursery plans and gave me artistic freedom to create a one-of-a-kind piece for her little guy's nursery! She wanted something that would last for a while too so I didn't go with "baby" themes. I used a little bit of this and a little bit of that to create a fun piece. Projects like this are always great because I get mix bold colors, textures, and patterns! They all came together in perfect harmony!
Before and After
A few of the raw material and the inspiration fabric from the nursery bedding.
I stained raw wood planks and nailed them to the bottom drawer to add a rustic vibe.
I love the contrast the crystal knob offers against the patina on the door front!
Covering drawers with paper can really set the tone for the whole piece!
This wooden plaque and hose clamp made a great drawer pull!
Scrapbook Paper, stained 1/4 round and a vintage drawer pull change the look of this drawer.
I used a miter saw to cut down a large frame and attach it the drawer front.

Angela, The original piece was so cheap looking. I'm wondering what you did to the fake finish to allow you to work on the piece? I'm a newbie so I hope you don't mind answering such a simple question. BTW, I absolutely LOVE this!
    • @Martinigal Not at all! I cleaned the surface with T.S.P but that's it. All the paint used was chalk style paint and didn't require sanding or priming. You can find all the details by clicking on the blog post ;) All the best!
