When we moved into our house we knew that we would want to eventually change up the kitchen that hadn't been touched since the mid-80s. While the original kitchen was dark, orange and black, and dingy, our style trends toward more modern and clean. We had quite our work cut out for us! But luckily we discovered the easiest way to transform your cabinets: chalk paint!
This is what we started with: orangey glossy oak cabinets. We took off all the doors and drawers, cleaned them, and painted with a coat of primer. Great thing about chalk paint is that no intense sanding is required!
We used Country Chic chalk paint which comes in lots of beautiful colors - and the great thing is that a little bit of paint goes a long way! We were able to do our entire kitchen and our master bathroom with just a couple of very small cans.
After priming, we put two coats of chalk paint, and two coats of Country Chic's tough top coat. It went really quickly and dried with a beautiful professional finish!
Voila! Beautiful gray painted cabinets that only took a weekend to do. We also swapped out the black tile counters and backsplash for white subway tile and quartz counters. Finally! A pretty kitchen we can enjoy :)

Are you going to see brush lines. I painted my bathroom vanity and used 2 coats of primer and then 2 coats of semi gloss and you see all the brush lines. I'm so afraid to do the kitchen cabinets.
