I have a black metal set... well actually 2 sets, one on the front porch it's a 2 chair, and one on the back porch a 4 chair. the one in front i use to maintain my hanging plants and watch the parades from, the one in back gets the bbq grill. i have chair pads for all chairs. neither set is taken in for the winter. it's been 7 yrs for the sm set, more like 15 for the big one.

For years I had redwood outdoor furniture. Never again. I like metal and it holds up well. Either cast iron, aluminum, powder coated metal. And I'm a spray painter. Can refurbish when it needs it or if I want to change the color. Also I don't like legs that dig into the deck or the lawn which means circular bottoms or rounded legs. Cushions are a choice. I don't leave them out off season. Good luck.

We have had wicker furniture on our patio for the last five years. I think it's resin with an aluminum frame. It is left out all year in our Canadian winters and has stood up beautifully. It was expensive but has been well worth it. You can look at Polywood furniture. It is also on the expensive side but virtually indestructible. We have some of their adirondack chairs left out in the elements around the yard and a simple hose off in the spring they're good as new.
