Mardi Gras Tablescape

Mardi Gras is French for Fat Tuesday, the last day of celebrations and carnival that begin in January. Setting a fun table for Mardi Gras is easy, and inexpensive if you shop your own home for items to use. Just dig around in the closets and kitchen for anything in purple, green and gold.

Begin with a green tablecloth, a gold napkin, and some purple candles in clear candlesticks.

Raid your dresser drawers for some evening bags, and place on the table. I used three of my evening bags in gold or white, with beading and glitz. Coins and beads are spilling out of each one.

I had a group of glittery gold apples, and a few purple ones too, so those are added to the tablescape in a clear glass bowl. The crown also was a home find from the costume closet. A fun addition to the tablescape are a pair of purple gloves, definitely a harlequin vibe. More bead and coins are scattered around the table.

Add white dishes on gold chargers, and top with a salad plate that has some gold color to coordinate. Your salad plates that have purple, green or gold would work, as would plain white. I like to add individual salt and pepper shakers, and pretty cut glass glasses as well. Voila, a celebration table, festive for a weekday meal or festive fun!
