More information about the layout would be helpful. Is it a covered patio? Do you just want to keep snow out of the tracks of a sliding glass door? Or do you actually want a serious wind break to keep blowing snow from filling up in the entry way?
wind breaks are generally done by planting trees a certain distance away from buildings, as the wind break slows the wind and allows for the snow to drop on the ground. evergreens are most often used. you might try lattice work privacy type panels set back from the doorway.
