I no longer have laminate counter tops, but I do know that Home Depot and Lowes or any good hardware store chain does sell a glue to fix the problem. This may not be a great response, but at least points you in a direction to start.
first try to remove as much of the remaining adhesive. when it is as clear and clean as you can get it use two part epoxy resin (as per the manufacturer's instructions) then weight and clamp down the surface.
