Upcycled Mini Decorative Balls...in Minutes Using Toilet Paper Rolls!

Wonder why you save ALL those toilet paper rolls? Haha Well I have one remedy to get rid of a few without throwing anything out! I found some cute & creative ways to reuse my recycled items to make upcycled decor balls!

Make these cute deco balls in 5 minutes!

After I gathered towel, toilet, and ribbon paper rolls, I then painted in & outsides of cardboard rolls.
After paint dries, cut into .5" or smaller pieces. (I didn't measure but if you're a stickler then have at it!)
The small cardboard ribbon rolls are perfect sized, no cutting needed.

I then assembled 5-6 painted pieces into a round criss-cross shape. I only needed 3 ribbon rolls, which are much sturdier cardboard.
I used a tiny squirt of glue on top/bottom of each piece and pinched excess out around end to help them dry as a cohesive unit. Let dry.
That's it!
If you want twine or moss balls, I suggest using the hard cardboard roles since they don't bend as easily.
One tip when using twine, tie a knot from the inside of roll at start leaving a piece about 1-2" long out. you'll need that to finish tieing the ends together at end,(see photo), you can then push completed knot inside so it's invisible.

Adding moss is super easy & messy! Just use glue and role around in moss! Then pop them in a bowl! My mom said these are great diffusers if you're into oils. They can be fun gifts too!

I then put these cuties in a bowl on my table to show off!
I hope you have as much fun as I did!
Suggested materials:
  • 2-6 Recycled Paper Rolls-toilet, towel, or ribbon, paint of your choice, scissors, glue, twine and moss.   (Everything I had on hand, twine and moss both purchased at the Dollar Store!)

Very cool! And I like the diffuser idea. Where/when/how do you add oils to this project? Thanks.

Love these! I have bought so many of these for bowls, vases, etc. Maybe now I can make my own. Thanks.
