How to hide this broken kitchen tile??

by Pam
Looking for suggestions to hide this eyesore in my kitchen. A back splash was removed and the small square tiles put in to replace that. An attempt was made to try to remove the large white tile from behind our stove. That didn't work and was glued back in pieces. We can't find this tile anymore. I did find a perfect sized plaque to insert into the empty space but am tired of looking at this everyday!

Look into filling the cracks and prepping the ceramic tile then with proper prep you can paint them

Why not hang some small spice rack or up a larger wooden rack to hold utensils

I'm sure where there's a will there's a way. Just take a lg. crowbar, put it behind

the tile, at the top,and between them, then take a hammer & pound on the crowbar. You can probably get that eyesore tile out of there!

    Thank you for the suggestions.

I worry about hanging something so close to the stove.

The problem with getting the ugly tile out is that I would then have to replace the other 5. I'm not a handy person, so I was looking for more of a cover-up fix.

I would place a pretty ceramic or porcelain pitcher full of wooden utensils in front of the damaged tile.

You might try to fill in the cracks with spackle and when dry, use a sponge to remove the excess. I would try to fill in that missing corner also with spackle. From a distance, no one will notice it is there.

Well, I'd paint it then frame it with wood molding as an accent. You could always wallpaper over it, then frame it out. Or, may install large tin tiles. There are many options. Have fun. Best of luck.

Could you see if you could have a receptacle put in that spot. The cracked tile, I would paint over and do all the other tiles the same color???????

Put a knife block, or kitchen utensil holder there. We have a white crock kitchen utensil holder beside our stove.

Make your own decals to cover it - and the other tiles. First fill in the broken cracks as mentioned before, fill in the missing parts with a fire-proof material, then stick on your decals. You can print whatever you want. Here's a source and a suggestion on how to make it cleanable:

    https://www.amazon.com/Silhouette-Printable-Clear-Sticker-Paper/dp/B00B9Q9QY0/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1488293109&sr=8-2&keywords=printable+sticker+paper+clear

I just used my inkjet printer. The colors come out very vivid. I don't have the silhouette machine. I think you might want it for intricate cutouts but I just scissors or a ruler and a razor knife. You need to be sure your ink is completely dry before handling the labels. I also used either spray or brush on clear oil based polyurethane because I was putting the stickers on tile around the sink in the kitchen. I wanted the tiles to stand up to washing so I used 3 coats and baked each coat on. I did not do the clear coating on other labels I made.

I think the only way YOU are gonna be completely satisfied is take it all off your wall and start again with what you want. Sometimes fixer uppers, you have to spend a little money to GET what YOU want......You may just rip it all down and find a solution for your fix. IT IS OUT there.......Good Luck!! Lowe's and Home Depot and etc. throw tile on sale. Private owners throw tile on sale. Sometimes very cheap. You've got to really dig in and decide WHAT you want to do.
