How can I get my family involved in building our log cabin?

We have a very small log cabin we are building for the family. Although everyone is excited to have a cabin on some beautiful rolling hills in Mark Twain National Forest, in Missouri, few are committed to helping see it through in completion. Any suggestions on getting grown children to schedule a few work weekends?

Make it a working weekend spending time together enjoying the fresh air, nature, and beauty. The ones that help will get first choice to use it. Have them get involved in the planning and building process. Share ideas that can be used.

Go for the long weekends, that way they still have time to get other "weekend" stuff done, you don't need to use them for the whole weekend. Have fun!

Who is is paying for it actually? Was this a family decision and choice or just the " parents" ?. If nobody else is contributing- no problem, only the ones paying or helping get to make the decisions as to when it is used and by whom..

Stillyoung, I agree. If you want to use, help with the building. If not, you pay to use.

Simon Legree, if they are not involved in the passion and letting everyone have equal rights and parts in decision making for your "Uncle Tom's Cabin" folly, you are up the proverbial creek.

Everyone was on board, we foot any bills. Like most American parents we even help them with their homes, but I agree, no sweat, no use.
