A low-maintenance pile has a combination of brown and green plant matter, plus some moisture to keep the good bacteria humming. Shredded newspaper, wood chips and dry leaves are ideal for the brown elements; kitchen waste and grass clippings are perfect for the green add-ins. Good luck!

Kitchen scraps and coffee grinds are great. And then to keep the ratio of C:N right I add some brown: dried leaves and/or wood chips. Then its a matter of keeping it moisturized and well ventilated to let the compost micro-organisms do their magic!

A mix of everything is the best way to have a good product. This include old coffee ground, kitchen peels, grass cuts, dog rejects, fruits & vegetables overpast, etc... You can add some ground worms to accelerate the process too.
