How do I paint a floor?

For a floor, use a pan and roller. First be sure floor is very clean, vacuum or sweep the dust. Then damp mop, just soap and water and rinse it. You'll need to get same kind of paint as you would use on outside porches; especially if a lot of traffic. Lot of folks are using plastic bag to cover pan before adding paint. Cuts on clean up. Use a brush around edges/corners where roller won't fit. Use a screw in broom handle so you don't have to stoop. And lock up kitty in another room while working. Warning: Make sure you start from furtherest point in room and come back to a door. Be sure outside door is locked when you finish to keep out visitors and other outside door is unlocked so you can get in. It should take no longer than 2-3 hours for paint to dry.

If I had old hardwood floors I definitely would refinish them. The process can be made to work with your family schedule. The end result would be worth it. Best of luck.

I agree with Diana. It is so worth it to sand them down, especially to have a professional complete it. If nothing else, Think of resale value to your home!
