You can paint it with fabric paint to give it the argyle affect. Have fun! I'm excited to see!

Find middle of front and cut it there so it looks like a cardigan. Then, either cover raw edges with fabric (would be like how blanket edges look) as wide or narrow as needed for sizing (or buttons) or stitch under the raw edges if shirt is large enough. If coordinating fabric is used along edges, additional fabric can also be used for pockets and elbow patches. The front can be buttonless or buttons and button holes can be added. Hope this helps. I made one years ago with a velour sweatshirt; turned under front edges, no buttons, hand-appliqued felt design.

I work in a care facility ,look after 35 adults ,unfortunately laundry does suffer, we do do our best,we do suggest to families that easy care fabrics are best. We also accept donations of clothing and pass it on to whomever is in need. Some families use thrift shoes and butpy good quality affordable clothing

Now to your question .I have been upcycling for years. Lay the sweater flat then in half matching side seams. Mark the middle , you can zig zag each side of center before cutting .then finish edges with twill tape add closures of you choice.

      Good luck.

Good luck. Hopefully they'll hold up to the harsh laundry conditions.
