Give us some more information Kim. What is currently there? I've put terrazo tile and commercial tile on concrete without fail. Does it sweat?

You can hate me for this but my first thought for the answer of "Where do I begin to install a basement floor?" ... in the basement. The second one was: in a far corner. Now that we have those out of the way, here is the one that you wasted your time reaching... Laminate floor could look great but before you consider going that route, be sure the floor is level. If the concrete wasn't troweled perfectly, dips and bumps will make it unsuitable.

If there are only dips, there are products available for filling them in.

I've noticed that no one has mentioned paint or stain. There are several DIY products available that people use on garage floors that will also work in a basement. Another option is carpet.

You'll want to determine if there are any problems with dampness before you decide what you want to do.

There is also a click plank vinyl flooring that look like wood and comes in a variety of colors and wood tones. My daughter used it in her basement, on concrete floor and it looks beautiful. Start in the middle and work out. They also have video tutorials at the store.
