I've finished converting our "junk room" into a bright, colorful bedroom for our six year old son (who until this point has been sharing a bedroom with his little sister). Come on in - I can't wait to share it with you!

This is the view from the doorway. Our son loves bright colours (orange is his favourite) so although it's an all-white room I think his bedroom turned out sufficiently colourful. His bedding and artwork bring a huge amount of vibrancy to the room 😀
On the back of the bedroom door I hung a couple of sticky command hooks for towels and dressing gowns. I would have loved to use black coat hooks but the bedroom door has a hollow core so there's nothing to screw into. Luckily, the sticky hooks work well and have held up nicely to the whip-cracking force with which he hangs his towel up.
The refinished captain's chair offers a comfy place to sit and read, while the London Calling artwork was an easy-peasy DIY job made from scrap wood and a tea towel.
As there aren't any built-in closets in our house, each kid has a set of drawers to hold all their clothes. I painted this one Dulux Night Life (a colour-match to ASCP Napoleonic Blue) to really brighten up this side of the room.
The hexagonal mirror is a cheapy from Kmart. It was originally a fake pine colour but I needed a bit more contrast with the white wall so I painted it the same blue as the drawers. Once it was painted, the mirror and drawers felt too matchy-matchy so I painted a couple of golden arrows on the frame to break up the blue a little. I LOVE how the mirror turned out - it's one of my favourite things in his room.
As the room is so small, his drawers pull double-duty as a bedside table. The blue and orange cushion is from Ikea and I love how the recurring hexagonal pattern ties in with the mirror.
Fingerpaint artwork from kindergarten adds a splash of colour to his walls.
A simple DIY superhero painting adds symmetry and colour to the other side of the window.
The other side of the room is his desk area where he keep all his "treasures".
A small space in the corner is the perfect spot to hang his Lego Dimensions poster and his guitar.
My DIY guitar hanger - a tool hook attached to a scrap of plywood. Too easy!
His desk and shelves were made from butcher-block offcuts that I stained and waxed. An old workshop stool fits perfectly underneath the desk so it can be tucked away when it's not in use. Our son's Lego is sorted by colour into clear plastic tubs which are stacked under his desk. There's also a "work in progress" Lego tub which sits on the desktop.
His shelves are filled with Lego creations, baskets of rocks, Minecraft books ... all the special treasures a 6 year old boy has.
He's so proud of the green dragon he made 😀 The black metal basket up the top holds all of his Lego instructions.

I'm loving how this bedroom turned out. I only spent the cost of paint, a block-out roller blind, mirror and bedding so this room makeover came in around $200. Not bad for such a bright, fun space!
