is this concrete vs. laminate, or painting concrete / laminate? my basement floor is concrete - it's been painted about 3 times from the different colors that are popping up. concrete is porous-very often water has attempted make it's way up from the floor. the water has bubbled the paint. if you are going to paint concrete seal it first. haven't had any experience with laminate.

I have no experience with laminate flooring, but my cocrete basement floors have been painted, as well as the concrete blocks of the basement walls. the paint on the floor has been blistering/ peeling- i"ve see 3 different colors. the walls appear to have survived- i think a dry-loc type product was used. if you are unsure cement blocks are 99 cents in my area, and they have 4 sides to experiment with.

I'm not sure what part of the house you mean but a stained concrete floor can actually give the room a really nice, polished, and modern look. It will last you a long time and cleaning is hassle free with just a good mop and soapy water cleaning.

You can def paint either- they come out great! I'm also a fan of staining concrete if you don't want to paint.

I took out the carpet of a house and stained the concrete in the living room the dining room and the hallway. Seal it when you're done and go over it maybe once a year to protect it and the heavy traffic areas. I loved my stained concrete floors. I used an acod based stain- Try googling images of stained concrete floors. Good luck!

My basement's painted floor has bubbled when moisture from the ground has worked it's way up thru the concrete. You may never see water on the concrete but the moisture is still there. I am going to try to remove as much of the paint as I can, then try painting with an "oil based" paint. I've been told that that type of paint on concrete lasts for years and it is harder for moisture to break thru. If you are trying to decide if you should put laminate "over" concrete, then you have to use a barrier on top of the concrete before laying laminate... it's for the same reason... moisture from the ground will wick it's way up to the concrete, so you would have to protect the laminate from that moisture with a barrier.
