Not Your Ordinary Planters

There's nothing like a porch with colorful planters to help brighten your day. Here in UT we've had a record breaking long cold winter. When the temps reached the upper 60's I could hardly wait to bring spring to our front porch. When it comes to planters, I look for unexpected surprises.
I hosted an estate sale for a friend at my home.  When this vintage canning colander didn't sale I decided to put it to good use.  A pretty snapdragon adds some height and the pansies will trail over the edge a bit when they start to fill out.
My cute aqua bunny decided to join it.
Last fall hubby hung a vintage pulley for me to hang buckets from.  For fall I hung a coal and a minnow bucket.  For spring I've hung two galvanized buckets.
I planted them with Ranunculus, primroses, and pansies.
Spring flowers just make me happy!
This picture shows the pulley.
Another snapdragon was planted in a watering can and pansies are in the metal scoop.  They both need time to fill out and be pretty.
I have urns on each side of the porch.  I added a piece of metal edging  and plantings.  The combination of the fence and cabbage makes me think of Mr. McGregor.
It's just simple additions like this that help to give your porch a warm welcome!
