I recently had that issue and I found that it was coming from the tank of the toilet. I put white vinegar in and left overnight. After flushing through the odor was gone.

I also use the vinegar trick to get rid of bad odor. It's a great odor neutralizer.

I found that the overflows in the sink get that way if you don't use them regularly. Fill up the sink w a bit of vinegar in the water...so that the overflow is used.

My sister had that problem in her bathroom. Turned out she had a leak in the tub where the pipe goes up the wall to the showerhead. The access panel to the tubs ' plumbing was in the closet of the bedroom next to the bathroom. The odor was in the bathroom and the closet, even after the leak was fixed. She had to run a fan to that cavity to completely dry out the wallboard and studs in the wall. If she had ignored it, she would have had a major mold problem growing between the walls.
