My first ever repaint of furniture

Things I learned:
1. Close the paint can - I kicked it over twice. Not good, should have learned the first time.
2. Thin coats are always better.
3. I hate angled brushes.
4. Get multiple sizes of brush and always beware of any brush pieces that may have fallen off.
5. Always go darker than you think with paint. The brown was supposed to be a dark Expresso. It turned out just brown.

Got this free from a neighbor. Well made just scratched a ton.

One thing you missed that I have found to be important, is the use of a good primer. It will help make the transition between oil based stains and sealers and the latex paint. And it will mean less coats of paint and will make those coats last even longer.

Carole, the guys at my neighborhood Benjamin Moore paint store suggested opening the can with the wooden stir stick. Have you ever noticed that the good ones (not the Home Depot kind) are a little curved on the end. they gently open the can and don't break the curl of the lid which keeps your paint tight for years!!!!! Oh and I love angled paint brushes too for more control. Just buy a good one and take care of it!
