The thin layer under my cedar chest is warped and has peeled off. Can it be replaced with a certain type of thin sheet wood. It was stored in a damp room and it caused it to warp. Any ideas? Thank You.

You can replace the bottom with any type of wood. Boards, plywood, reclaimed wood, etc. What ever is easier for you.

Thanks William.I was concerned because the layer that peeled off the bottom was really thin wood .You could snap it in half with your hands,It was so thin that it rotted right through to the cedar, which i wasn't to happy about. What is reclaimed wood?

Reclaimed wood is a term for recycled wood like barn board, pallets, etc.

If you are using it as a "cedar" chest you need to keep that in mind when you replace. You want some wood that will not be putting an acid air into the box. See if you can find some cedar laminate. If the warped floor can be removed it can be straightened "somewhat" with humidity/water and some weights to press it down while it dries. Small amounts of buckling can be removed with a hot clothes iron. (do some research before you try it). At least add some cedar chips once you get it repaired especial if you are not using cedar in the bottom replacement.
