hi! before planting any thing, assess your property- where does the sunshine hit and how long does it linger? where are the shady areas? where does the shade travel? most plants like a full 6-8 hours of sunshine. there are plants that like shade.... the best thing i did when i moved to a new house was to contact a local nursery. some have in house landscape designers. for 50$ the planning person came out measured my lot, and made several suggestions as to what plants would do well. i could get my plants any where i chose.....mostly by raiding friends gardens for cuttings and transplants.
