What is the best month to plant clematis in zone 66048?

    Its best to plant them in late summer/early fall so that they can establish roots before the cold weather arrives. That way, the next spring they are better acclimated when the hot humid summers arrive. I do however plant them in spring as well--they just require more attention since they are not as established as when summer comes as ones planted in the fall.

    You can plant clematis in the spring making sure the roots are shaded but the plant itself gets at least six hours of sun a day.
