Is it from next door then I would say to cover wall with a heavy curtain to absorb sounds and if from floor ,rugs. If from outside curtains. If from above I have no idea.

To help soundproof- add rugs to your rooms, they'll absorb sound. Also line the walls as much as you can with bookshelves and the like. And, the more furniture, the more soundproof. You essentially want as many things in your home that will absorb sound so that it doesn't travel outwards and it blocks external noises. Good luck!

There is material that comes in 4 by 8 sheets. Ugly black and I can't recall what it is called but they should know at the big home stores. We used it in an office where confidentiality was an issue. We covered it with fabric, either neutral to fade into background or "artsy". They can be screwed to wall studs but in your situation, if you have brick interior walls, you woud have to put them up with concrete screws. You can then hang pictures on them. This would be in addition to rugs, and curtains.
