A hav a heart trap baited with broccoli placed near where they feed

remember to tie the broccoli or they will reach in and the door won't close properly

If you have the type where one side stays closed place extra brocolli in back so they have to cross trigger pan to get it

Glob of peanut butter on a slice of bread works well. Take them in the trap FAR away from your house. miles. Set again until you see no more for a few days. They live in families.

Thank you, Johnchip, for the suggestion to transplant the critters to a new place! I move entire families most years from my one acre garden, respecting their right to thrive, just helping them do it in an area where they will not becme another humans problem or target.

I am a hair stylist and I know human hair will keep deer away. Maybe it would work on ground hogs and woodchucks, too.

Use a 5 gallon pail filled half full of water. Pour black oil sunflower seeds on top of the water. Only need enough to cover water surface. Next to pail have a board or rocks there for the rodents to climb up to top of pail. They jump in thinking it is all seeds. They cannot get out and drown.
